The Bible is my rule of life. It is easy for me to easily change my way of life if it can be shown me that the idea behind the sabbath is different from what I have thought it to be.

Sabbath Understanding

The following is what I understand the sabbath to be:

The point of this article is to create a dialogue among God's people with regards to the law as found within the Scriptures. We need to rightly divide the word of truth and rightly put things in their place and let them shine forth in ten times their original brightness.

We piggy back and spring off in this short study from the testimonies of God's Spirit as found in the writings of Sister White.

This article deals with a study on Daniel chapter 8 where the vision of the 2300 days is found. As it stands it also deals with Daniel chapter 9 because a relation was seen between the two chapters. It is a good read. I will walk with the reader such that in places where it might get convoluted I will briefly summarise the point or add more information to give more clarity to the points being made.

This post comes entirely from an article written in 1846 by R.L. Crosier and Hiram Edson. It seeks to identify what is the sanctuary in light of the teachings of their day and clearly bring out the connection the Levitical priesthood and the Melchisedec priesthood.

This is a transcript of a lecture given in the 1836-37 by a man named William Miller. He is famous for preaching of the coming of Christ in 1843 to judge the world. It is often the case that of such people one is only told about them but never really given their words to read for themselves. So here is one such effort.

Part I

"This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you… Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, 'Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as [they were] from the beginning of the creation'. There is a "veil of sanctity which has been thrown over the early church as a whole," and the church fathers with their beliefs are appealing more and more to multitudes. It is often the case that one will hear another say, "we need to return to that good old religion that the early church fathers had." The thing that prompts this is the assumption that because of the their nearness to the time when Jesus Christ lived and the times His apostles did their ministerial work, they had little errors and had most of the "religious stuff" right.

The Analogy

Now let us review a real life scenario so that we can find the concepts of judgment more relatable.

Suppose a person is accused of armed robbery, a crime against the laws of the land, and gets arrested. After his arrest and confinement, or jailing, a time is set whereby the person is supposed to appear in court.

In many minds when the Christ is said to be the literal Son of God it is understood to mean that He is a created being. And if a created being then not divine, and if not divine then not God, and saying Jesus is not God raises up all the defences of a Christian that many would not want to hear anything more of it. These are assumptions made from the one statement, that, "Jesus is the literal Son of God", and those assumptions are not true. In fact that statement proves quite the opposite as it confirm and reaffirms Jesus' divinity.

Breaking the Ice

When judgment is mentioned in this day and age it always has a punitive connotation, to mean, it is often thought of as punishing. Therefore, if you tell someone that he or she is going to be judged, it is understood that they are going to be punished.

This is not an accurate understanding of what judgment means. It is a half understanding of judgment at best and it creates a stumbling block in biblical understanding.

Let me explain.
